I love that . I love that and that's how I feel too . I feel the same as you . I don't give up . And me , in my late fifties , I can feel some of this , and when I was reading your information , I thought there's still . There's still time left . I still have time . Right , you do , you do . I'm 60 now . You don't look it , wow , you look amazing . So you started this when you were 54 , and I know how I feel at 57 . I feel like I'm in the last third of my life , so I'm going to make it big . This is it Like I have to do it now . For all the people that are listening , who feel behind , overwhelmed , older , under-resourced , what do you want them to hear right now from you ?

You have time and you have to start now . So it's two things you have time , but yet your time is limited . So you know now . So it's two things you have time , but yet your time is limited . So don't wait . Don't just sit around waiting and then your life is gone .

And gee , why didn't I do that ? Because you will have regret if you're not fulfilling your potential unless you're one of those people that's just okay cruising and a lot of people are , and that's great . That's their personality . Figure out what the personality you have is and don't be in denial about it . That if you are somebody that really wants to feel fulfilled and that they fulfilled least part of your potential , don't pretend you're not and that you're okay living in a mediocre fashion . Now again , some people have a personality where they're just very content with living their lives . No judgment . It's all about knowing yourself . What do you want truly , and not what you're settling for because you're too afraid to do the work or take a risk , because risk there's no risk , there is no reward , there's just not . You can't take no risk and expect great things to happen .

So you talk about building online without ads when everybody else is talking about buy ads , pay for ads , you know , create demographics . Do all of these ads ? What does it really take to grow organically online in today's world ?

It needs a very simple strategy and doing it . It's that simple , simple strategy , but actually do it . And most people don't do it . Most people don't do what they're supposed to do . When somebody says , hey , here's a strategy , do it , they all . They immediately start tweaking something that's working . So they're tweaking it because they don't want to do it , because human beings don't like following instructions . They like to find an easy way . And then they wonder why didn't that work when there was a formula ? You can't make a cake and say I'm just going to put no sugar in it . It's not going to taste good . Why'd you tweak it ? The recipe has been working for everybody . Just put all the ingredients in and don't tweak it by cooking it for 10 minutes rather than 35 , because you won't have a cake . You have a bunch of goo .

That makes so much sense and that analogy makes more sense than most things I've heard . So I know my own self . You hurry through it , you want to get through it because there is a system right , there's an approach on how to do it . I feel like I'm doing the work on social media . I don't feel like I'm getting where I need to go . So , now that you make me think about that for a minute , am I really doing the right work ? You are not . I'm doing work . I'm doing something every day .

You're not doing it because if you were , it would be working , because it's not that hard . That's the message is if it's too complicated , you're probably not doing it . Right ? That's so good ? Right , because this not everything . Some things are complicated , but I generally find that when you make things simple and find a simple solution , those are the best , because you can just keep doing it over and over again and less breaks .

It's like anything manufactured . We all know that when you have things that have a million moving parts , there's a million moving parts that could break . When you have something that's just one block of thing with one churn , it's just two things could break . So you want to make things as simple as possible and you want to do it to the maximum . So you don't want to have something complicated . And then it's so hard . You do it once and then you say , oh wow , that was so hard , I tried it once . And then you say , oh wow , that was so hard , I tried it once and it didn't work . Or it's , this is so simple , I'm going to do it a million times and you get really good at it and it works .

That's . That's the key . It makes sense . So , because this podcast is about pushing through adversity and getting to the other side , I'm going to go back a little bit . Then we're going to talk a little bit more about this , but take me back to a moment when life what was life like before that pivot .

Okay , I've had . You know , life is never . Oh , I had the moment , the define , you know the defining moment . I'm like what ? There's one , one of the defining times where it was really bad I was . This was well . There were others , but I cause I started my bit . I was started my business about 13 years ago . That was the first really hard thing when I was just starting it . Oh , it was so hard .

solo parent at that point and that was the first thing . And then there was the second time , about six years ago , and I was 54 . I was in deep debt . I thought , oh my gosh , I have nothing to my name as far as assets I just got myself and I better just use that as an asset because it's all I got . And I just thought I need to make this happen or my future will not be happy . I will not be happy , thinking I did not fulfill my potential , I did not do what I wanted to do . I can't let this happen . So I , at that age that I am getting online , I'm going to figure this out and I did , and I'm so grateful that I'm a risk taker because it was right .

Before COVID , oh , I was already in deep debt . I would have been in such deep debt you wouldn't have gotten me . I would be really hard to get that on me . And also after COVID , I was then older . Then you know , I'm so grateful it was so providential , honestly that I figured this out like five months before COVID and it didn't hurt me People . Actually it probably would have been the same , but it didn't make me . It just didn't hurt me Right , and I am . So I bask in gratitude like every single day . I'm so glad I took those risks . I'm so glad I spent that money . I'm so glad .

Did I lose money ? Sure , I made so much . I've learned so much . Who cares ? Who cares ? People get very caught up in this amateur attitude that every single investment has to work . No , it won't . That is not investing . No investor has every single investment work , whether it's investing in yourself and your business or an actual money making investment . That's amateur . Oh , I lost the money . Sure , we all did . Now go invest some more and hope that one works Right . Yeah , figure it out , do something else .

Just keep doing something Right . So how did being a solo parent throughout all of this because I know that had to be difficult how did it influence your resilience and your drive ?

You have no choice . You can't sit around complaining . You can't sit around . It's like okay , there is no choice , there's good in that , because I didn't have the luxury of , oh , is it aligned ? I got to think about this . No , I didn't have that luxury , just do it . If it works , it works . If it doesn't , it doesn't Just do it . Because every moment that I spin and I go into that , oh , I've got to talk myself off a ledge .

I figured out early in the piece about must be about . It was during Hurricane Sandy , so when was that ? Must've been ? Like 2012, . I guess you know what . I've got to stop backpedaling . I've got to stop being at all self-indulgent . I have to just do the work and I need to just process things like lightning . If I'm disappointed , just process it . If I'm like you know , just because every time , john , that you spend a couple of days or a day or a week getting back on track , there's no food on that table , you do not have that luxury . So everybody should take a page out of my book and pretend there is no luxury . And I figured out a way of just fast tracking , like with NLP . I figured this thing . I guessed it was NLP because it kind of is that I would just fast forward past all my you know getting back on track and do it in three seconds , and I thought I just took myself through a journey of getting back on track .

So it means you don't live there , right ? You're not living in that space .

No , and you know how , when somebody you're just , you know in business , no , you know how , when somebody you're just , you know in business , somebody says something , and then you're like you lose your confidence and you've got to like , oh , you know , process that and I thought , whoa , I don't have time for that , so I'm just going to process it like this Done . And you know what ? My mind took me through it in three seconds and I was like I'm good , done , that's great advice . Doubt is what I'm talking about , and the self-flagellation of oh , that person said that , oh , I've lost confidence . Ah , stop it , people . You're wasting your life . I've just figured out a solution where you can just get through that and get moving .

But why do people do it ? Because it lets them procrastinate and live in the fear as an excuse . Now we got an excuse . Now , let's put it off for another month . Now we're back on track . Now we got another excuse . Get over it , folks .

Overcoming Adversity as a Solo Parent

There is way too much self mollycoddling . That sounds bad , molly , mollycoddling of one's own self . No , I mean , it's just , it's too much now . And if you want to be successful , figure out how to not waste your time complaining back . You know backtracking , feeling vulnerable , and how to not waste your time complaining back . You know backtracking , feeling vulnerable and oh , I just got to process this . Why do we have to process every single darn thing ? Just move on , not worth processing , most of it .

Yeah , I'm with you there and I feel like I live in that . Now you know , I don't sit here and I don't dwell on things at all Someone taught me that a long time ago about you know . He said you can't take a day , you might take a half an hour , 30 minutes . Whatever I like your idea better , just wait for it .

Yeah , your mind is then registering it as a . I'm not saying to avoid , I'm saying have a process where you're actually processing it quickly . So your brain is okay , I'm processing it , but she's given me 20 seconds .

That's it . So tell us about your business , and you scaled to 1 million in 17 months . What do you do ?

So I'm a business coach for coaches and consultants and certain service providers and basically me and my team help you get high ticket clients online with no ads , that's it and no nonsense , and as quickly as possible .

So what kind of moves did you make to grow that fast ?

Speaker 2 10:20

I did the work , okay . So I got , I got online and I signed up for this program and I was deep in debt already and I thought I need to get . I'm going to , I'm going to invest , and I knew that I needed to invest at least 10 K for me to take it seriously . Okay , to have you know . It's not about the cheapest thing . Cause you want a Rolls Royce , you got to pay for the Rolls Royce . Now , funnily enough , you can pay that much and it won't be a Rolls Royce . It'll be kind of like , not so great , but I already knew when I went in .

I thought this is not going to be a perfect program , and I'm okay with that , because I think the fact that they're so mean in here might actually help me , because they're just going to say , do the work . And I thought , okay , maybe I need that , you know . So I went in and I just thought I'm just going to make lemonade out of lemons . It's not going to be perfect , but I'm going to learn something . Well , guess what they were going to teach me ads , so-called . And I thought , wait , this is not going to work . The irony of it all . And I thought , okay , this isn't going to work and I said this won't work . They said , no , it won't . I said , well , I just . And they said , no , john , not like carrots . And I said like what ? Then they said you've got to . You've got to . You know what do I do ? They said talk to people . Go , go talk to people . I said , okay , I mean , I can get clients online without paying for ads . I didn't know that . They said , yes , everything opened up . I thought , oh , my goodness , there is actually a way I've got to figure this out . That's the key , that's it . And I just I realized in that second . So I said what do I do ? Where's the trainings ? They said , oh , there's no trainings . I said , okay , what do I do ? Go talk to people . I figured it out . I spoke to almost a thousand people in eight weeks . Okay , online , a thousand , over 900 conversations in Facebook Messenger , gaining information on what was going on in people's businesses , what they were doing .

And after that point , after 18 sales calls which it wasn't working , I thought , oh , I need to help coaches . That's who needs the help , because I kept bumping into them and I thought I'm going to be the coach for coaches . I was resisting that and I thought I'm doing it . And when I did that and I focused on that market , it just exploded . I got my first client . He got a 30K client within one week . He said this is amazing . Just your energy alone is getting me clients , because it's not just the strategy , there is also energy involved , right . There's energy of force of nature helping people , and they're like Sean . Just your energy is so encouraging , because coaching is not just about strategy , it's about coaching and energy , right ? So that's how we did it . I figured it out . I made so much money on Facebook , then I also learned LinkedIn and then I learned Instagram , so now we coach people on all three . And now I figured out also how to create an asset from a podcast on YouTube .

So do you ? Do you help people that are just starting or experienced coaches , so we can ?

most of the people we work with are just starting a coaching business . The majority yeah .

So it'd be just funny . You're sitting there talking about , I think , about the things I have . I have a podcast right , and someone told me a couple of weeks ago I should just stop doing it . I'm like , okay , I didn't really want to stop , but he's like you know , you're not going to make money with it . If you're not , there's no point . And I'm like but I like doing it .

I have a 200 plus agent real estate brokerage here in Pittsburgh . We have 200 . Yeah , and we actually have about 205 now where we're pushing up . I'm trying to hit two , 50 , 300 . Okay .

Let's move on , okay , anyways . So tell me this what's your philosophy on servant leadership , and how do you integrate that with high performance coaching ?

Okay , so everything . If you're a coach , it's high performance , but really I'm a business coach . There's also high performance in there because I've realized that you cannot be successful in any environment if there's not high challenge and high support . Okay , that's where you're successful . High level of challenge with no support won't work . People just can't do it . No challenge with a high level of babying and support also won't get people there , because challenge , you know , support , support , support , support , but there's nothing being reached . So that's kind of the environment of my program High support , high challenge , so my clients achieve more , right ? So that's the performance part , personal performance of and I don't mean like go do it , no , none of that , it's just , you know it's a nice medium . It's not like the pendulum of go do the work and grit or babying . There's a happy medium to be achieved here in all businesses , work , companies , right , it all applies .

what that means . That's just like we're on the same level and you're leading people on the same level and not looking down on them . We're all in the same boat and we're . It's leadership , it's all . You know what do they call it Vertical leadership . Is that horizontal ? What is it Vertical right ? No , that's horizontal right . So so , basically , it's that servant leadership is how am I here to help you ? Okay , and you have to still lead , but it's not looking down on people .

Yeah , I love that . So you had to have some significant mindset shifts when you went from scarcity to multi-millions right . So don't lose it all again , right ? So you don't want to get to that point where you're taking a dive back in the bad direction that you don't want to . So how did you do ? How did you ?

get there . I just I did the work and you know what ? I was just so excited . Something was working that when I first got my first high ticket client and I found this , I was so excited . My daughters and I danced around the house . I said I found it , cause , you know , when you really discover cause , there's not all . You know , you don't have eureka moments every day , right , right , oh my gosh , this is it . I know this is the direction and I started getting a flood . I thought this is so exciting , it's working . And I was just working and pulling in the clients and doing the work and we're excited , you know . And then I had already reached a million . I thought I better just check . Oh , I actually reached a million a couple months ago . I didn't even notice , because you're just doing the work .

And I looked at it over and over and over and over and over again . Numbers added them up many , many times Trust me on that and I just thought , no , I had to pinch myself . Did I actually bring in a million dollars in revenue ? And it was at 92% profit . At that point I was like , because it was all me , it was just me and a little VA here and there doing everything and I had a coach , but it wasn't one coach doing a session for the mindset . But now we have other coaches , but still , it's still very high profit .

And I had to pinch myself . I thought , how could this be that I've pulled in a million dollars on my own ? And so people , I said , well , I just did the numbers , yeah , it's there , because I added up everything . And I looked at my bank account , I was like , yes , I couldn't believe it . I wasn't really paying attention and I thought , wow , did it change me as a human being ? Absolutely not , especially at my . Oh , great , great , I can pay my debts off now . Great , now I'm not worried about the rent . And then you sort of you grow into the idea and it's like , wow , this is amazing . So you know , do I think about it every day ? No , it's just my lifestyle . Now . I'm very grateful . I live in , not in gratitude , I live in gratitude and I'm like , wow , if I can do this , anybody can ? I mean that . I truly mean that I was not techie . I'm stunned .

I'm sitting here stunned because I feel like I know so much , I've done so many things and I cannot like you've just went .

Because I cracked a code . I cracked a code . When you crack a code , it's a shortcut . There's all this stuff and it's hard right For eight years . All this was hard for me , like I'm not quite piercing through , and it was oh , this is so frustrating . And I was getting some clients offline with the networking . I thought this is never going to work . It's just for me as a single mom . Just all the networking . I thought , look at the numbers . There's never going to be critical mass here , folks . I thought this is demoralizing because I really want to be that million dollar coach . And when I said that to myself when I was broke I thought , wow , anybody in the back of my mind , if anybody saw that kernel of belief , they'd laugh at me . They're like well , you're in deep debt . You're 54 years old , come on , man . But when you have a belief somewhere in your subconscious or that's somewhere , and once you have that and you don't get it , you're going to be disappointed that you never did it .

Yeah , what if you can't figure out what you want to do ? What if it's in there but you can't find it ?

You need the code . That's why we need good mentors . We need to also keep searching for even if it's not the mentor , it's just talking to somebody , it's people on my podcast . I learn so much from them and it's a gift every day because I'm like , wow , I would never have known that , like I have a million mentors at this point , because I'm learning so much from people that do other things that I never would have known . That's why I started my podcast just to learn from other people .

It's like the greatest networking in the world . By accident , I made a half a million dollars from it by accident , yeah that's amazing .

Once you get a mindset that you believe , money just pours in . I believe , no matter what I do , maybe there might be an investment that doesn't work , because that happens sometimes , or maybe not . My mindset is just I'm so abundant , I'm just like I'm going to do something else , it'll work . If it doesn't , that's okay . Something else will . Your mindset of abundance is just now set a good mindset , not of growth , because you don't need to grow anymore . When your mindset is like I'm just so abundant , let's keep that right . You just you trust at that point that it's always good . I believe that I have Midas touch , without all the problematic parts of Midas , but I just believe that . But also I believe from evidence that I am a Midas touch for people that know me . Coach with me , just happens . They're like you bring in money for me . One of my colleagues , a friend of mine , he says I had I'm not coaching him , we're just friends he said I had my best month ever just because I know you .

That's amazing , right , I just had a podcast right before this with a guy he has it's called the thrive switch and he said it's neuroscientific and it's biologic being coming successful and it was so hard and I was just sitting there like I am right now , like it's all happening , like I'm having this podcast so that I can learn from people like you and him , right , so I learn and it makes me better and so if someone thinks I shouldn't do it anymore , I don't care , I do it anyway .

You should do it and you should make it . You should make it a marketing tool , and you know you can't just people have this thing absorbing . You know , gathering information is highly overrated . Serena Williams did not win how many ? 26 ? Because she read about tennis . She did not read about tennis , she played and practiced tennis right . So gathering information is highly overrated .

Action is what you should be doing . That's it . That's it . Highly overrated gathering information . Stop it . Gather some , but if you're going to hear somebody say something and not act on it , what's the point ? It didn't change your life . It'd be futile . Somebody hears me on this podcast and doesn't do anything . I've done no good at all . They were amused a bit , they were a bit inspired . Then they went back to normal . That's not my mission . I have a 40-year mission to help as many people on this earth to thrive . I mean it till I'm 99 , whether I'm coaching or whatever that is . So that's now changed my mindset about the largesse of what I could create for everybody . It just blew my mind . I thought , well , I could be doing more , I could be creating for all sorts of people . How do we help people to thrive , especially with AI here ?

Oh , my goodness , I know , but you said something about information . There's just so much . You get so caught up in it and I'm guilty of that , right , I'm guilty of . I love AI so much . I'm doing all these things , creating all this stuff .

With any of it , right . But I am creating myself to have more time because I can do things faster and I'm able to communicate . I'm communicating well and you know I can respond quickly and then I can have time to take care of my husband .

Right , it's been 10 weeks as a caregiver and I barely left the house , other than to go to the store if I have to , or something small . I haven't even been to work but two times in 10 weeks . So I'm working at home , so I want information overload and there's so much information coming at me I don't even know what to do next .

You know what you should just pick , pick a lane and just stop getting information and do a new strategy .

Yeah , I love that . So when we're talking about that , so as an entrepreneur , what is a mistake that you see them making that keep them stuck in a space

Breaking the "Hell Cycle" of Entrepreneurship

Like , what are they do ? Is it this ? Is it being so overloaded ?

It's a call . I call it the hell cycle . It's the hell cycle . It's the . It's the hell . Like any psychological syndrome , people just do the same . Every psychological syndrome . People do the same thing and they have a pattern . Right ? If you were a narcissist , you would have a pattern of narcissism and you do certain things over and over when you're dealing with people . If you're this level , I just use that as an example , because do you know that one in four people apparently is a narcissist in the workplace now ?

It's unbelievable what is going on , and I think it's because of social media . One in four . That's amazing , but anyway , that was just an example . So let's say , okay , the health cycle . The health cycle is this . This is the hell cycle . Oh , I'm so excited , I'm going to be a this , I'm going to be a coach . I started a business . Yeah , I'm going to get a website .

Busyness , okay , busyness , it is not business building activities , it's just busyness , but we feel great about it . So I'm building a website . You're getting clients from ? No , but I have a website . And then there's the next phase of oh , okay , I did all this , spent this money on stuff that's not making me business , and now I don't have clients . So then they go find something else . That's also easy to do , because it's easy , in a way , because they're avoiding the actual work , which is marketing and sales . So they're avoiding the most important part , which is marketing and sales . They're paying for branding , marketing this and that . So it's all this stuff , okay .

And then they keep going through the cycle of oh , I just spent that and I'm not getting clients . Oh , but I'm going to do something else . Oh , now I'm so excited and now I'm depressed . And now it's this back and forth , and back and forth , where they should just stop and say what do I need ? I need clients , cash flow . Do I have a system , yes or no ? No , get one and do it and stop the shiny objects and people selling you stuff you don't need . Get a good business coach that has done what you wish to do . That's the key . That's the key . If the business coach says I'm going to make you a millionaire , oh , have you made a million ? No , but I'm going to make you a millionaire , flee , okay . If the business coach is a coach for IT consultants and you're a life coach , don't hire that coach , because that's right . So there's all these people hiring the wrong people because it's a little cheaper , it's a friend of a friend or a friend of a friend's dog's cousin .

No , you must say I want to figure out what I want . What do you want ? Figure that out . Look for somebody that has done exactly what you want to do , because they have what is called a formula , which is not a formula that has not been proven . It's a formula . They have lived and they have done it . Do you understand ? It's not like oh , here I have the formula and I don't know if it's going to work or not . Will you , could you help me out ? I'll pay you . I don't need no , no , I'll pay you . I'm not a coach , that's okay . Get it . You need to figure out what do you want . Who's done it for themselves in the way you want it ? So say you do want to be a multimillion dollar coach and you want to do it without ads . I'm your gal , it's your . I don't know a florist shop . Go find a top florist shop coach . That's all I'm saying . Hire them and do the work .

Okay , it's very smart marketing , but people want to hear what they want to hear . Right , they'll hear what they want to hear . So she said you know this isn't working and I really need your help . And I said , sure , signed up right away . She has made $225,000 in eight weeks .

Faith, Legacy and Looking Forward

do you believe that there's a divine assignment in prosperity and does faith show up anywhere in your journey ? Could you ask that again , there's a divine ? What do you actually mean ? What do you mean ? That there's help from above ? That there's , of course , if you believe that faith is a part of your journey , because I feel like if you don't have faith , I don't know how you get through the hard times but also what you're , you're doing , going through the good times , like , do you feel faith inside of that ?

Oh , a hundred percent , I would not be . I just got goosebumps . I would not be where I am with all the prayer that I and all the just like . I've been through a lot of bad times so I'm sort of feeling like , well , I don't deserve it , what do we deserve ? I'm like that's really nice .

I got some good times here because life is ups and downs and I know that there will be hardship . People have sicknesses . We know that's coming . We know at some point somebody's going to get sick again or I might get sick , or who knows , we get old and die , or something happens in the family or the business sometimes fails . I just am so happy that I'm going through a great time and I'm trying to just really be in the moment right now , because my life has not been easy all the time . It's not been easy , not just with the coaching , just in general , because I think when you do strive for things , you do put yourself in a situation where it can be worse than most people , because you're living on the edge in a way . Right , so , absolutely . But you know it's important to pray and believe that this can get better and just get through those times . But it's also really important to give thanks when the times are good . Yeah , for sure .

Yes , so what legacy are you building now ? What does success look like in the next chapter of your life ? I know you've talked about impacting more lives , so that's big .

Right . Well , I mean I have personal you know stuff going on that I'm for impact and my family . But yeah , I mean it would be really great if I could help just a lot of people not worry I mean it's really not worrying about putting food on the table it would be great if I would be like , wow , we helped so many just people figure something out where , where you know it's really hard to live a very fulfilled life If you're just worried . I know when I was spent years worrying about finances , I just felt like , oh my gosh , every day is not my best life . I'm just anxious and worried , anxious . And if I could get back those years where I was not , I would do anything to get all those years back Me too .

Me too , I feel the same way . There's so much I worried about and at the end of it all things barely happened the way I thought them through , right . You know , I got through it all in the hardest times of my life , when my dad died , when Jason had a transplant . Those have been so difficult . I made it and I got through it and I live every day in in positivity in honor of my dad and Jason . You know , I became his wife and it says to honor your husband and your parents too . So I spend my life doing that and I I just I think honestly , talking to you is like a wake-up call . So you know , you didn't just make a comeback in your life . You proved that the best version of you can still be ahead , no matter what age , what bank balance or what background . I mean , you are proof positive and I barely know you and I can feel that energy . It's incredible , yeah .

And I'm not done yet . I don't feel like I'm done , I'm grateful , but I'm like , wow , I have not reached my full potential . At least I'm not anxious anymore . I'm like , okay , what is next ? How , what can I do ? Now ? There's something not yet fulfilled all the way of potential .
