You can be brilliant at what you do and still get overlooked. That’s the painful gap we dig into here, with media coach and visibility strategist Christine Bloisdale, a former number one morning radio personality who now helps entrepreneurs become the authority in their space.

We start with the moment that changed her career: getting pushed into the host chair during the most listened-to hour in Los Angeles, battling imposter syndrome, and then feeling everything click when the on air light turned on. That story becomes a blueprint for anyone who freezes before going live, pitching themselves, recording content, or stepping into a bigger role. We talk about why authenticity is the hottest commodity in modern marketing, and how real connection beats perfect performance when you’re building trust.

From there, we get tactical about business visibility and personal branding. Christine breaks down common mistakes entrepreneurs make when trying to get seen, especially on their website. We cover why clarity matters more than clever copy, what social proof actually does for conversions, and the three questions your message must answer quickly: who you are, who you serve, and how you help. We also unpack the difference between hustling for attention and consistently creating from your “genius” so the right clients feel your signal and choose you.

If you’re building a coaching business, consulting practice, or service brand, this conversation will help you tighten your message, show up with more confidence, and turn content into opportunities. Subscribe, share this with a friend who’s been hiding, and leave a review with the one place you’re committing to be seen and heard next.

Welcome to the spotlight where one conversation becomes content, authority, and opportunity. I'm Dion Malich and I'm here with Christine Bloisdale, joining us all the way from Australia. Christine is a former number one morning personality turned media coach, visibility strategist, and founder of the Expert Authority Coach, helping entrepreneurs get seen, heard, and positioned as the authority in their space. We have been working together now for six months. How are you doing today, Christine?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I'm so happy. I'm so excited. Um, in addition, because usually I'm the one that's like leading you and talking to you on things, and I'm just so excited to be with you on this. It's a great opportunity, and I love the whole concept of the spotlight. So I love it too.

The Radio Moment That Clicked

SPEAKER_00

So, you know, I I love the idea because I can really feature people all over, not only all over the world, but you know, in the city of Pittsburgh where I'm from, and I think that's gonna be great for everyone and for their exposure for their business. And it's always for me, it's always a big deal to help other people grow. And I love that opportunity. So thank you for being my first one. Yeah, so I want to ask you a question. Was there a defining moment, maybe even while you were still on air, when you realized the real power wasn't just having a voice, it was owning it and helping others step inside theirs?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes. So for 20 years, I worked at a radio station in Los Angeles. I got my chops, I was a producer behind the scenes, and then I got to be on the microphone and interview amazing people, authors, thought leaders, you just brilliant folks. And what I found is that as I was talking to them, these ideas would come into my head. These I would I'd have like all these ideas about their business and their website, like how they could make it better and what kind of a book they should be writing. And I tried to keep it in, but you know, when you're sitting on a really good secret, it's really hard after a while. And so after our conversation, after the interview, I would I would talk to them and I would say, you know, have you ever thought of you know, what about doing this? And uh so many of them were they came from such a grateful place and such a beautiful space. They're like, Oh my gosh, that's I I've I've been wanting to do that. How did you know? And I said, I don't know how I knew, but we need to get you to do that. Yeah, and they said, Can you just come, can you, you know, can you come and work on my website? Can you help me with my next project? And that's how I started coaching. And that's when I knew because I've always wanted to be a teacher, Dion. I always wanted to be a teacher, but back in the day when I was going to college, we didn't have coaches, we had coaches that were softball coaches or football coaches, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, sports coaches, right?

SPEAKER_01

There was no such thing as a business coach or a marketing coach, and so I just, you know, I I put those dreams uh on the side for a bit. And then when I was talking to amazing people, I just it just fit. It clicked, you know, it just clicked.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I love that, and I know that you're super good at it. And I love working with you, it's really good.

SPEAKER_01

I love working with you.

Imposter Syndrome And Doing It Anyway

SPEAKER_00

We have so much fun, we teach each other things all the time, and we laugh, and we just we I love our dynamic, it's really cool. So tell me this. What's the moment that changed everything for you? And what did it cost you to become who you are today?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I had to step into, you know, I really had to, I think I had to, I had to step forward. And this is what I tell all my clients, and you've got this, so this isn't you, this isn't an issue with you, but so many uh of people that come to me, they're really good at what they do, but they're hiding and they're afraid. Uh they're maybe they have imposter syndrome, so they're they're like, oh, I'm what what are people gonna say? What are people gonna do? And I understand imposter syndrome because I went through it at a very pivotal, pivotal time in my life when I was at that radio station and I was working behind the scenes, I was doing writing and producing, and then I was asked one day, and it was drive time five o'clock in Los Angeles, it's the most listened to hour, and I was asked to I had to host the show because the host broke their leg or was sick or something. Okay, and and it's that Hollywood story, you know, like, come on, kid, you gotta get on stage, you know. The actress is, you know, dead, and you need to do whatever. So boy. So imposter syndrome hit me hard, and I was like, I can't do this. First of all, I don't even know if I like my voice. And uh what are people gonna what if I mess up? People are gonna laugh at me and think I'm crazy, and they're and they said, you know what, you gotta do it. There's nobody else to do it. And so I reluctantly went into that studio and I sat there and I put the headphones on and the microphone and pulled it in next to me, and then the on-air light went on. And Dion, when that on air light went on, it was as if angels were singing from the heavens. I don't know, something clicked again, and I just knew what to say. I could feel the audience, I had a connection with them. I mean, I never saw them, but I could feel them.

SPEAKER_00

That makes sense, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and it was like I was home. I was like, oh, this is what it's supposed to feel like. Okay. And that was a really pivotal, pivotal moment for me, but it came during a crisis.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, it's yeah, that was definitely a crisis for sure.

SPEAKER_01

For those people who suffer from imposter syndrome, and we all do, um, it's when you're asked to do something you're not familiar with or you've never done before. Um, my my wish to you is that you get the strength to go through it and do it because on the other side of it could be something magnificent that you didn't even dream of.

SPEAKER_00

So I still have it today, and I've been doing this a long time. You literally, I came from the trailer park, right? Like there's Didi from the park. There's that. And so there's a lot of times I go back to that. I remember whenever the trailer was still there, I would drive through the trailer park and it called it motivation lane because I had to sit that in my head that that's not where I wanted to be, you know. It was a great growing up there. We had such a good, uh big, huge opportunity of love in that space that a lot of people don't have today. Like I know there's a lot of families that don't have the kind of love that we had when we were kids. You know, we had it and we played and we had fun, but I had no idea. So when I do something like this, step out of my comfort zone, I get all hot and like stressed. And I get it, I get that feeling, but you have to do it anyway. And that's the biggest point I think you're trying to say. Just do it. What's the worst thing that could happen? You mess up. What if you say something wrong? What if you say say the wrong thing and everyone laughs? So what?

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. You're human, and right now the hottest commodity is authenticity, right? Because we see people lying all the time and being fake and phony and Kardashianism and all that.

SPEAKER_00

I talk about that all the time, right? That's why reality reality TV did so well, you know, and people want to get to know the authentic side of you, and authenticity is huge in today where there's so much fakeness.

Stop Hustling And Do Your Genius

SPEAKER_01

Yes, absolutely. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

So, what do you know? What do you know now that would have saved you years if you had known it earlier?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you know what? I I think what it is, and maybe this is because I eventually eventually I just I recently found out that my human design is projector. And for those that are in the audience, Google it, okay? Or chat GPT, human design. And for the longest time I thought I had to, I had to struggle, I had to work harder, I I had to chase down you know clients and opportunities. And that's not how I actually thrive. What it is is that I need to sit and do my genius, right? I need to sit and create my things. And even if there's nobody in if the if there's no clients calling, sit and do your genius stuff. So it might be creating, you know, TikTok videos, or it might be, you know, writing books. I I love I love creating, but I'm like I'm birthing a book every every time I can. Um but but when you sit in your genius and you just do it, the passion and the joy creates this bat signal, this uh energy, this vibe, so to speak. And that energy is going to go out into the universe, and not to get woo-woo, we're getting a little woo-woo, but it's okay. Uh that energy that you have, your passion, the way you speak, the way you write, the way you show up, that goes out into the universe. And the right people are going to see it and feel it and be attracted to you. That's the magnetism that you will have. But for so long, I thought I had to just hustle and work really hard. And no, no, when you work in your joy space, right? When you do the things that you really love, if it's hosting podcast shows or interviewing people or helping them get seen and heard and hired, then that's when the magic happens and that signal that you're sending out, it's very powerful. And the right people will be attracted to it. That was a huge thing for me.

SPEAKER_00

It makes a lot of sense. And I I agree. And you know, I was thinking about like something like the podcast, right? In a business owner, it's every single business owner should have a podcast. There's a pl plenty of room for you in that space, and it's such a great way to show everyone who you really are. I was on another podcast this morning. We talked about that. Like, what is one thing you see people doing? And that they're not doing is they're not showing who they are. They're saying, This is what I sell, this is what I do, this is not who I am, because they don't, we don't know. They're not showing that. So that makes a lot of sense. Thank you for sharing that. There's a lot of mistakes that entrepreneurs make when trying to get visible, and you're you're the expert authority on it. So what's the thing you're doing instead of you know what they're not doing?

SPEAKER_01

Okay. So here's a few of the the don'ts, right? Here are here's a list of a few of the things, and I do cover that, by the way. I cover all the do's and don'ts in the brett in the book uh the expert authority code. But uh a big don't is that when you know everybody should have if you have a business or if you're a coach or consultant, it doesn't matter, you need to have a website or at least a landing page, right? So that people, it's your it's your business card, it's your fancy pants business card where people can learn more about you and contact you, really. Um, it's and you need to show some social proof. And social proof means you know, reviews from people that have worked with you, testimonials. If you've got a Google business page, you know, link that to your website or have some of those reviews. But the biggest thing is that when I go to somebody's website, the very first thing is I want to feel that that signal, I want to feel that energy, that vibe. And if it's just a photo from you uh from 10 years ago when you looked good and you or as a selfie, uh, you know, um, and there's this long, you know, lots of copy and text, and it goes on forever, it's like a funnel, you know. It that is not bringing me closer to you or who you are. And so what's really important is to be as clear and concise as possible. The C in the code and the expert authority code is clarity. Yeah, and so many people are not clear. I don't know what the hell you do or who you do it for or how you do it. And those are the big questions that you want to ask yourself. Who am I really? Who do I serve, and how do I help them? And if you can put that out clearly in a concise, clear few statements, right? Don't go on forever. But if you can do it in bullet points, if you can do it in a short uh, we have short attention spans, so just keep it keep it concise, right? So I think that's really one of the most important things is is that uh clarity. Um, and and you have to you have to take it from a perspective of somebody else coming in and looking at your work. That's why a coach is great or a mentor, because they can come in and they can look at what you've done and they can go, okay, this is great, Susie, but this here is glaring uh at me. It doesn't make sense, or it's confusing, or your website is really discombobulated. Um, and so that's what I and I love doing that. I love working with people on the websites because that's the first entry point for many people to your business.

SPEAKER_00

And you know, like this show, this is an idea that you and I came up with from my podcast, right? And so we have Shine On Success Podcast. I've interviewed over 120 people so far, but then we came up with this idea of going live and sharing their authority throughout all of my my exposure, like the exposure that I can give them, you know. So as I they grow, I grow. And that's really exciting to me because I have so much excitement about helping other people build their business and being in the right mindset to do it. So you know, well, this is perfect.

SPEAKER_01

The spotlight is perfect because with this, not only uh are your are your spotlight people like myself, I'm getting seen on all of your different platforms, but I am also getting an asset. I'm getting an incredible interview with a professional person, okay, with somebody who who's been doing this for quite some time. So I get this great interview that I can repurpose, that I can put on my website, that I can share on my social media, and then all of the other goodies that I get, you know, out of this. So it's it's the smartest, it's the smartest money you'll spend, I believe. And and yeah, and you're and you're fantastic for it. So it's great opportunity.

SPEAKER_00

So if this is the last thing someone hears from you today, what do you want them to believe about themselves after this conversation?

SPEAKER_01

Okay, I it's a little bit of tough love. Okay. And uh this is on the bottom of every page on my website. It's whenever I go and do public speaking, when I'm on a podcast show, when I meet my uh a client for the first time, I say this. Remember, if you're not seen and heard, you're not hired. It is my mantra. It is, I have it on repeat. If I could just beam it out into the cosmos, you know, every single day to remind uh business owners and entrepreneurs, you have to be seen and heard in order to be hired, and you need to be trusted in order to gain those clients or customers. And so that's my job is to help you do that, help you be seen in whatever platform is gonna make it's gonna be your, you know, your light, light, on air light moment, right? And you need to be heard in different ways writing, uh, videos, podcasts, podcast guesting, all those things. So that's the most important thing. If you're not seen and heard, you're not hired, nobody's gonna come down the street and come knocking at your door and say, Hey, I heard there's a great business coach in here, or there's a fantastic fitness coach, or you know, they're not gonna do that. You have to get seen and heard. Absolutely.

Where To Find Christine

SPEAKER_00

I agree. So if our audience would like to get a hold of you, where can they find you?

SPEAKER_01

The best way is to go right to my website. It's called uh experthoritycoach.com. You can also put in the expert authority coach.com and they can see all of the different programs, and they can also check out the uh accelerator program, which you have been an incredible client of mine for six months. And um, and they could do just uh if they wanted to do a three-month uh stint with me, they can do that. That's the minimum uh requirement in the accelerator program, but they can find out all those all those details and uh links to the book as well.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I was just gonna say don't forget about the book because you're an author, and I can't wait. I just got my copy of it, so I'm excited to read it. And although I talk to you almost every week learning so much about you, I really want to I want to read it too because I'm constantly learning and marketing is truly one of my favorite things. And getting myself out there is not easy. It's not the easiest thing. I'm going live today. I hardly have ever gone live ever. So I'm but I'm doing it anyway because you know what? At the end of the day, I want to be seen, I want to be heard, I want to make that impact that you're talking about because I have a gift and I want to share it with everyone. And I don't think I don't go through all this adversity so that I don't have stories to tell because the boy do I have some stories. Well, everyone, she she is cutting out from Australia, and I will see you next time.
